Information on Wireless routers, hubs, and switches for E Street DSL
Routers: A wireless router can be used to create a wireless ‘hotspot’ in your home or office for use with your E Street DSL connection. Most DSL modems used with E Street DSL are already wireless ready, so a wireless router is not necessary. However some DSL modems (ex: Zoom x5 ADSL modems) are not wireless ready so purchasing a wireless router would be necessary to create a wireless connection in your home or office.
Hubs and switches: A hub is a device used as a common connection point for computers on a network. A hub allows you to connect multiple computers and devices to a single network. A switch is very similiar to a hub, although a switch is generally more expensive. This is because a switch divides the network into multiple segments, allowing data to move to its destination faster and helps to prevent congestion on the network.
Here are some links to sites where you can find information and support for several common brands of routers, switches, and hubs.
