When Microsoft created Outlook 2003, they finally added junk e-mail (or ‘spam’) filtering capabilities into their mail program. This setting is on by default, but it can be turned off if you do not wish to have your email filtered.
When Outlook downloads a message that it determines is ‘junk’, the message will be moved to your “Junk E-mail” folder.
To turn off or modify this setting, follow these instructions.
1. In Outlook 2003, click on the “Tools” menu and select “Options”
2. Click “Junk E-mail Options”
The recommended setting would be “Low”. Also, it is not recommended to check the box labeled “Permanently delete junk email instead of moving it to the Junk e-mail folder”. If this setting is checked you will not have a chance to review your messages before they are deleted and this could result in legitimate emails being lost.
After you have made adjustments to your junk email settings, click “Apply” then “OK”.
