Removing ‘X-Headers’ in Eudora

The spam and virus firewall for estreet.com e-mail addresses enters special headers in an e-mail address to allow for advanced e-mail filtering. It is not necessary to view these headers, but Eudora doesn’t know about them by default, so they are displayed in the message window.

To hide these ‘X-Headers’ on Windows/PC, following these instructions:

1 – Locate the Eudora.ini file.

2 – Locate the line under the ‘Settings’ section that begins with ‘TabooHeaders’

3 – Go to the end of the line and typ in the following ‘,X-ASG,X-Barracuda,X-Virus’. Note the comma at the beinging of the text you are to type in. Do not include the quotes.

4 – Save the file and the additional headers entered by the E Street Spam and Virus Firewall should no longer appear.

If you don’t see the ‘TabooHeaders’ line in your eudora.ini file, you can try pasting this line below at the begining of the ‘Settings’ section. It is from a fresh install of Euorda 6.1.2 with the necessary settings added to hide the headers from E Street’s spam and virus firewall.

TabooHeaders=X-UID,Received,Status,X-UIDL,Message,In-Reply,X-Priority,Importance,Mime-Version,Content-,X-Persona,Resent-Message,References,Return,X400,X-400,Mail-System,Errors-To,X-List,Delivery,Disposition,X-Juno,Precedence,X-Attachments,X-MSMail,X-MimeOLE,X-Nav,X-H,X-ASG,X-Barracuda,X-Virus

2 – In the left settings navigation column, scroll until you find the ‘Boring Headers’ settings and click on the icon.

3 – Scroll to the bottom of the list of headers to hide. You may need to place your cursor in the list and then use your down arrow keyboard key to get to the bottom of the list.

4 – Type or paste the following headers to hide into the list, each on a separate line:

X-ASG-Debug-ID

X-Barracuda-URL

X-ASG-Orig-Subj
